News & Events: The Annual Bourse Militaria at Les Islettes

The author heard about this militaria show a few years ago, but he was first able to attend it this year.  It really is a remarkable show, with militaria from a wide range of time periods.  Attendance was easily several hundred people, from many countries in Europe.  Sellers and buyers came from France, Germany, the Netherlands and who knows where else.

The author’s favorite purchase:  A porcellan plate “In Grosser Zeit.  Weltkrieg 1914-15.”  The author’s greatest regret:  Not purchasing a map showing the front lines near Malancourt, dated early Sept. 1918.

Readers who are interested in militaria and who have travel flexibility, should plan their vacation around this event.  It is held in mid August, and readers should be able to find the exact date on the internet.  Depending on self control and budget, an extra suitcase might be in order.
